I wish no stars was an option for this review as Spencer’s Car Sales are quite frankly the worst business I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.
On inspecting & before agreeing to the purchase we made sure of the procedure should anything go wrong with the car and were assured that we could use any VAT registered garage local to us. The car developed a fault on the journey home to Colchester & their answer when we reported it was “could we bring it back to Norwich” but had no intention of providing us with an alternative vehicle/courtesy car for our use. We eventually, through our own investigations found what we thought was the fault & Spencer’s sent us a new part in the post plus some touch up paint as they had been unable to repair the initial bodywork issue we identified on inspection.
A number of other faults became apparent within a couple of months & after much stress & inconvenience to us & still no courtesy car, they eventually agreed to carry out the repairs but would not acknowledge the faults with the bodywork. The work took over five months, having stated it would be no more than 3 days, and they admitted that the fault was something they were unable to deal with in house which resulted in us incurring personal expense for an alternative vehicle.
After we eventually collected the car in November, we took it for inspection at a local bodyshop & accident repairer. They found a number of faults with the bodywork but the scariest of all was that there were no airbags connected on the rear door that had been replaced. This was shown up on the fault codes.
It seems that this company are happy to sell a vehicle which is not safe & issue it with an MOT certificate.
We have notified Spencer’s of the results of the inspection but have received no response.
We would be unable to recommend this business.

I mainly dealt with James Castleton and he was second to none in customer service.

Out of all the dealers I have been in contact with, he was never pushy or eager - someone who understands that some people need time to think and decide and I was one of them. He gave me a great offer on my PX (to my expectations) and was just super nice and polite throughout about everything - even things like sending over full spec lists from Main Dealer.

In person he was just the same as he was over the phone, test drove the car ensuring I was super happy with the vehicle (not just a short spin), giving me and my wife a generous amount of time to be convinced - vehicle was clean throughout gave us more time to think, and after that the rest was history.

Thank you for making the transaction pleasantly easy and would highly recommend them as a dealer for your next vehicle!

I just want to say how nice it was to meet James at Spencers, someone genuine in the car sales business. He inspected my car, we agreed a price with no nit picking and then he drove me home. Now that's what I call service. James was fair and I hope I was also. A friend recommended me to Spencers and I can recommend them too!

Really pleased with my BMW and the service I received when browsing and buying it from James - who was helpful, informative and not at all pushy. Olly has also been very helpful and knowledgeable in the Service department - helping without any issues at all when a service light came on in error. Highly recommend Spencer’s car sales in every regard.
