The supervisor/manager of this store named Tracey is awful. She refuses to unlock a trolley or change up a £10 note so I am able to get a trolley for myself even though I’ve told her I’m doing a big shop, spending £100’s of pounds on toys for Christmas. Her suggestion is to bring each toy to the till and leave it there until I’m ready to pay. I’m disabled so making unnecessary trips up and down the aisles with a 2 year old in tow is utterly ridiculous. This woman needs sacking as she is possibly the most unhelpful and rudest person I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Zero customer service skills and she barely looked up from her phone while I was trying to talk to her. I left the shop empty handed and I will now be spending my money anywhere other than the lakeside branch of smyths, all because she couldn’t be bothered to unlock a trolley!
With so many bad reviews I don’t understand why this woman is still a manager there, all the staff seem miserable, like they don’t want to be there and is it any wonder with such an awful miserable character leading the team with a bad attitude problem. Great example she’s setting.
I have contacted head office as I feel this was discrimination against my disability, she clearly didn’t believe me or care, even though I was parked in the disabled bay outside the shop doors with my blue badge fully on display.

Incredible store. Huge selection of everything from toys, games, video games, bicycles, scooters dolls, basically everything that a child might like, boy or girl.
Everytime we go there with our little one we end up spending almost an hour if not more looking around.

It's a smyths toy shop and the staff are incredibly rude and hate their job and make it seem like a passing game and eventually who gets left to do a job I asked 2 gentleman talking not caring about their customers I say "hi mate can I get a ladder for the lego aisle" he says "yep well get down there for you" 5 minutes later a girl arrives who is incredibly grumpy and seems like she does everything round there just a genuinely grumpy environment. I'm from up north and was visiting for a holiday all I say is ours are so much better.

Absolutely useless click and collect. Says nothing about photo id on the confirmation email, come to collect with the bar code and payment card now they won’t give me the order without photo id. In this digital age. What’s the point 🤬 now I’ve got to travel all the way home 40 minutes away to get the photo id. I’m cancelling the order and taking my money elsewhere.

Wasn’t allowed to look at the Lego because I would run out the shop with it apparently then refused to purchase 300 plus worth of toys because I said I felt discriminated

Staff were so helpful, totally beyond their duty. We were charged twice for one toy, which was annoying at the time, but after one email to their customer services, the error was put right so quickly and politely I could not stay annoyed for long. Both the staff at the shop and the people that dealt with the error are a credit to Smyth's toys, a company I will happily recommend. A further visit to this store yesterday (Sept 24) shows that things haven’t changed, the service was exceptional (especially from a lady called Sue in the pram/cot department). Years on from my initial review this store has maintained a level of customer service to be proud of.
