Glyn is one of the best bjj and judo instructors that I have ever met. His brilliant insight and fundamentals based teaching takes your jiu jitsu to the next level in a short period of time. In addition, being part of a great SBG community is such a blessing in that you will have access to all the great minds in the BJJ and mixed martial art world. SBG has a very unique culture where everyone is welcome to the community and encouraged to learn Jiu Jitsu in the most effective and efficient way. I cannot recommend SBG Bury Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts enough to anyone who is interested in learning BJJ and starting a Jiu Jitsu journey.

Met Glyn when he came to our gym in the west of Ireland for a seminar earlier this year and I couldn't be happier with my experience.

Each move is explained step-by-step, with an emphasis on the finer details that really make a difference. Whether it’s a basic position or a more complex submission, Glyn ensures that every student grasps both the ‘how’ and the ‘why’ behind it. His teaching style is patient, encouraging, and very detail-oriented, which helps students build a solid foundation while also refining their skills. I’ve never felt more confident in my understanding of BJJ, thanks to Glyn’s clear and structured approach.

I first met Glyn at SBG HQ in Dublin, I really liked his analytical approach to Jiu-jitsu and emphasis on protecting and controlling the hips. Fast forward a few months I found myself in the North West of England and decided to check out his gym at SBG Bury.

I've had a couple of sessions so far and have to say there's very few black belts if any in the North West who have such an analytical approach to Jiu-jitsu and whom understand the invisible yet very crucial aspects of the sport. His understanding and emphasis on correct breathing and control is incredible to see being taught to all levels from the very start. Game changing stuff!

Fantastic bunch of people and great atmosphere in the gym, I learnt a lot in my time here so far and couldn't recommend the gym enough for anyone wanting to take their jiu-jitsu to the next level.

Glyn and the coaches really are top tier in their understanding of the game and are so helpful in transferring their knowledge to all levels of individuals. Great gym full of great people. The coaches here are extremely friendly and knowledgeable making it the perfect place regardless of age, fitness or ability. Head coach Glyn has been training for 15+ years and is a 3rd degree black belt and places lots of emphasis on staying calm whilst focusing on your breathing. This means you focus on improving your technique rather than relying on athleticism. Been training here for a year now and glad I picked it over other gyms.

Started training at SBG Bury one month ago as a complete beginner, training mainly with Glyn, and every class has been brilliant. Glyn and the other coaches are highly knowledgeable and articulate techniques in a way that’s easy to understand. The classes are structured in a way that not only allows you to learn HOW to perform a technique, but also WHY it is done that way, which has massively helped me understand the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu.

The rest of the group are also very welcoming & friendly and happy to give advice to help you improve.

The club runs plenty of classes 7 days a week to fit around any busy schedule and there are also children’s classes which I definitely plan on bringing mine too in future!

Glyn and the other coaches provide explanations in a clear and concise way which I’ve found particularly useful as a beginner. They go above and beyond to help you incrementally improve with each class.
