Had a bedroom fire and there was a delay of 5 weeks before any work was done but this was because the insurance company didn't approve the costs.once approved the work was done quickly and well..nice friendly staff who went above expectations and sorted what they could and more ready for Christmas

Please do not use this company. When they took our property into storage for safe keeping , they then destroyed it without our knowledge or agreement. Terrible customer service, no apology and didn't deliver what they agreed to do. Very unprofessional and didn't appear to know what they should be doing. Please avoid at all costs....we complained to our insurance company and the complaint was upheld. Sadly R E Spencer are still in business....don't give them yours. The 1 star rating was needed to leave a review....I would award 0 stars.

Where to start?

If your house is flooded and R E Spencer is involved, all I can say is you're in for a very bad time.

In 6 MONTHS -
* They failed to properly dry the house out - thinking dehumidifiers are sufficient after being flooded with over several feet of water.
* Ignored all the smashed and loose tiles around the house despite multiple houses (including neighbours on both sides) having found the same tiles to be made of Asbestos
* Damage a very expensive TV by improperly storing it and that's on top of never bothering to actually get it tested for flood damage in the first place.
* Putting a flood soaked tv stand upstairs, damaging/bending it in the process and then never actually cleaning it.
* Never bothered to actually clean the house, despite dirt being on the floor, walls and UPVC doors.
* Skirting boards being left in place for 5 months before actually removing some of them to check for damp - with some walls still being untouched despite them having swollen.
* The bedroom closet is still damp, with the plaster and skirting boards having never been touched despite telling them.
* Moving and cracking a brand new window pane because they moved it improperly (they must be placed on wood)
* Failing to catalogue items, most of my clothes have been dumped without them being itemised.
* My neighbour over the road has had the misfortune of having this company - the fact they've put DEHUMIDIFIERS in the house WITH THE CARPETS STILL IN should tell you all you need to know.
* Leaving the house unlocked TWICE, once with the door open with the KEY STILL IN IT - the police had to inform us!. The second time it was the front window - our neighbour (who moved back in) called us.
* We complained multiple times to R E Spencer about the damaged items and the door being unlocked, but these complaints seemingly never went past the reception - with every person I met on sight, including the area Forman saying they were unaware of our grievances.
* The owner of R E Spencer did end up calling and apologising, but only after we complained to the insurance company, but this has gone on long enough - they said they were hand the contract to a new contractor who gave an assessment that was the complete opposites of R E Spencers.

As I briefly mentioned, my next door neighbour has already moved back in, their experience (with a different company) stands in stark contrast to my own; Plaster off the walls and the house deep cleaned all within 2-6 weeks. They had more done in a couple of months than I have in the last 6.

With my health problems, my Son and daughter have had to step in, to the point that they've had to pester R E spence to remove the plaster (even then with great resistance) and check the floor tiles for asbestos. For those who are wondering - they removed 1-2 inches of plaster (yes that's it) and even then they only did it in patches - no room was fully done, and the tiles? Nothing checked.

It goes without saying that we shouldn't have to be asking them to do the basics 6 months into the job; the plaster, cleaning the house and electrical testing of items should have been done months ago when they first got the contract. They should also know these older houses likely have asbestos - the fact so many of my neighbours contractors picked up on this and R E Spencer didn't is appalling. Honestly I could get more professional people off the street.

They've not stuck to a single promise they've made. 6 months ago they broke my pipes doing something they said they shouldn't have been doing in the first place. They promised to fix it. 6 months later and they can't even be arsed to apologise. Shoddy cowboys. Stay away at all costs. You'd be better off doing the work yourself

R E Spencers were involved in our recent insurance claim following a leaked pipe under the kitchen floor. We had several dealings with Vicky and Rachael both were extremely professional, helpful and friendly. Various drying equipment was provided and some of our kitchen units were removed and put in storage. All the various tradesmen that attended our house were also very polite and professional. Thanks to all at R E Spencer for helping make our traumatic experience more bearable.

Top firm! I had a garage fire and my insurer used RE Spencer to deal with the aftermath. The guys that came in (Eddie and Lukas) were brilliant, went the extra mile and then some! Very friendly, very professional, and literally could not do enough to help. It's rare these days to find people that actually want to do their job and enjoy working, but these guys were brilliant.

The office staff were also very friendly and helpful when booking the work in for me.

I'm hoping I never have to use my insurers again (this was the first time, so quite stressful), but if I do then I'm hoping they send this firm in again.

If your insurance company use this company to do any reports then that's the first thing your claims going wrong. This company is totally full of lies. They did drying work for water leakage. When they comes to yours record every single thing what they say and what they do because very next day in the report it will be completely different story. The people they send are useless at mine they did half work and missed half. When I raised the issue they come back again then to cover the first mistake of their in the report Their were bunch of lies. So say no to this company because they are useless.
