I wish I'd noticed six months ago these positive reviews for Plume are all three years old.

Smileworks are the most popular dental practice in the UK with over 1,000 five star reviews. We contracted plume for a custom LMS software with a maximum budget of £50,000.

We were assured our site would have advanced features and be built by experts who understand the industry and use their consulting skills to create products that sell and scale.

£78,000 later we have a basic product, full of bugs that's not been tested properly. It has not had any significant thought put into UX and Kaine admitted the team have failed us in the QA process.

I got annoyed because on 'launch day' I tried to buy a course and didn't receive login details and could not even access our product! Because we had already agreed a finish date and paid for it, they agreed to fix things using a 8 hours free. They fixed lots of the issues and then charged me £5,000 for my 'free hours'.

Kaine does not manage expectations and the billing process is frustrating and was so poorly managed that my business partner actually accused me of hiring fraudsters. She couldn't believe that after so many crystal clear meetings about budget and time, they still managed to fail to meet the deadlines and the site still wasn't even substantially complete.

So in desperation I said we could not continue paying when we were six months late and 20k over budget. I asked the team to step aside and transfer the site onto our servers.

They refused to do this and downloaded the site onto G-drive and I had to get it migrated. Then Kaine said not to contact him anymore. He will say this is because I was angry. But
you would be angry if you'd paid this much money and were being held to ransom.

This is the only* thing web agencies should never do. When an agency does this even once that's the red flag the world should be aware of.

I am sure Kaine and Igor used to be an effective team but it seems Igor never had enough time for us and Kaine has become greedy and arrogant. The customer service is non-existent. It's either carry on paying exorbitant fees or get locked out.

If you want a website from these people you must understand it will never be yours. They will not release responsibility and will try to keep you on the pay run forever. If you refuse, expect to be shut out.

When we have angry patients (and we do sometimes) we bend over backwards to make it right. Not Plume. They don't care. When they realise you've closed your check-book they will get nasty and unprofessional and hang you out to dry.

Whatever Kaine tries to say to get out of this there is one fact you must not lose sight of. When we said no more money they refused to point the site at our domain and simply sent the files for us to migrate. I'm not a developer. I had absolutely no idea what to do. And they knew that. It was the most unprofessional end to a contract I've ever experienced. Almost criminal.

In our initial engagement, Kane was kind enough to offer a great deal of flexibility in delivering our MVP LMS.

There were only some minor delays in its delivery, though this was more my fault than theirs, as I was very loose on deadlines (in gratitude of the flexibility around a low budget).

My assigned lead developer and project manager were always consistent and useful. In some agencies, hours are often inflated to increase bills, though this was not the case. In fact I was surprised by how much work was being done in such short timeframes.

The MVP LMS was user-tested and worked effectively.

My only other point of feedback is to offer more visibility into hosting options and perhaps accommodate smaller businesses with services other than AWS that can be far more affordable.

We wanted to get our website re-designed as it was getting disorganised and cluttered. As someone who is not very technical, Kaine was very patient, helping guide us through the process. He came up with some great ideas which we hadn't even thought of and we are really pleased with the results. Another thing to note which I think is really important is that Kaine set out timescales and finished ahead of schedule.
