Having outgrown our previous accountants we were looking for a firm of accountants who were pro-active rather than re-active in supporting the needs of the business. I appointed Donnelly Bentley (recently acquired by Pierce) and it’s been nightmarish. They gave me some poor advice on my tax return and correcting it is taking months, I submitted my info on 4 April 2024 and my tax return is still not sorted. Replies are very slow, they don’t seem able to keep up with the workload and attention to detail is lost. Wouldn’t recommend.

They would not take my son on because of the type of business he is involved with despite showing interest a few years previous. His business is legal but not ethical. I told him to source a chartered accountant in a large British city and stay away from parochial Northern towns and cities. Very quickly and without much bother he has now sourced a chartered accountant in the affluent and progressive south.
