Cottage industry transitioning due to healthy growth & beginning to focus on supplying production customers rather than academic research. Improvement in systems engineering much needed, as almost no traceability between customer requirements & the verification/validation of those requirements. Having had worked there for 4 years I never saw anything of this sort at system level. Management generally good but there were certain exceptions, making staff more used to defence/aerospace/nuclear feel frustrated & unclear.
