Spectacular views over the Peak District from Millstone edge.

The paths are very good around here, very clear trails. Visited mid August and the heather was worth seeing, surrounded by colour.

Included this as a stop on our hike, would absolutely recommend visiting.

Magnificent vistas from the top of this impressive rock edge. Beautiful purple heather in summer that turns golden brown in autumn. Changes through the year so worth a visit in any season. Large free roadside parking area is only a 15 minute walk from the viewpoint. This was my last stop on an 18 day tour around northern England and Scotland, and as ever, the Peak District really delivered.

Absolutely fantastic views of the surrounding area.

Spectacular night sky views and beautiful sunrise. An absolute must visit at least once through the night and into the morning.

Easy access from the car park, just a short walk uphill to the top.

A beautiful view point that's easy to get to.
A 10 minute walk from the car park gets you up to the rocks.
Park at " suprise view car park " postcode S32 2JA .
It's not a hard walk at all, just a bit muddy, so boots or wellies advised.
Once up to the top there's a gated fence. If you walk through the gate you can stand on the edge of the rocks.
Do be careful with children and animals as its a sheer drop.
You can still see without walking through the gate.
Further longer walks can be done from this point if required ...
Worth a visit but certainly not an all day event....

Beautiful views and quite rocky path. Sometimes, dogs are out of the leash but it's worth the view.

Very beautiful place to visit!!! My friend and I went to the below side of the place and we see a huge cliff with all the beautiful purple flowers!! And we hiked upstairs and we can see all the beautiful hope valley! So so mesmerising! I was speechless! And we hiked again and we arrived at the millstone gate the upper part. The place is very easy for hiking. And also suitable for kids. It was very spacious and full of purple flowers. I am amazed! And you just have to follow the foot path. At the end you will arrive at the surprise view car park and you can take bus or ride your car that is parked there. Millstone gate is a scenery that I will never forget. Totally mesmerizing!

A fabulous place to watch the sun set in the Peak District National Park, with a nice selection of heather in the summer. A fairly short up-hill walk from Surprise View car park. You can cross over to Higger Tor and Upper Owler Tor from here too
