My grandad James "Jimmy" Wood used to work here. He never spoke much to my mum after 1986 and lost contact. Neither of them bothered with each other after the death of my mums grandma on her mums side. Sadly My mums mum passed away 4 days after she gave birth to my mum on christmas day. Through her up bringing he visited her on the odd occasion and I believe he cared. My mum is stubborn and never really bonded with him. When I learnt all this, I mithered my parents to go and see him. So they went to howe bridge to his house on rivington street and nobody answered. Luckily a good neighbour came out and offered them to come in for a cup of tea. The lady broke the news to my parents that he passed many years ago in December 2003. We found put where he is scattered at Howe bridge crematorium and I have been a few times. I don't know what happened to him or what he was like. I have a photograph of him and his wife Vera. But it is just so painful not to know anything more. I shot in the dark perhaps. But I'm hoping if anyone see's this and they may of known my grandad I would be more than happy to learn more about him.
