Mark McLeod has been excellent. Found the best deal and revised twice to lower rates prior to completion.
With L&C you can easily manage updates and document submissions through their dedicated online portal.

After nine years with this mortgage broker, a couple of BTL mortgages, life insurance etc. their recent bad service made me leave them permanently. The lady broker behaved more like a double glazing salesman, insisting that she was very busy and had others to deal with if I was going to renew my BTL with my current lender myself. Then the next day she phoned me to say mortgage rates were going up later in the afternoon and I would have to make up my mind well before 4pm to accept a provisional offer from my existing lender. I asked her to send me an email with details so that I could read the details as we discussed them over the phone, but she refused to send one, stating she had to discuss the offer with me first over the phone - because she insisted that it was in line with FCA rules (total nonsense). In reality she wanted to pressurise me some more over the phone. Then sensing my hesitation she again reminded me that she had four other customers waiting for her attention, it was then that I decided not to deal with her as I don't like being bullied into making a hasty decision in such a manner (as I will be stuck with this deal for the next couple of years).

I gave them a negative email feedback and was immediately called by a man who mentioned his name but did not introduce himself or his job title. He then went through security questions, firstly he phoned me on my registered number so that was confirmed, then he asked for my name, DOB and address, all of which I gave him and then he wanted to continue asking me more security questions - he was just being awkward so I refused to give him any more of my details saying I had already given him enough for feedback purposes. He kept on insisting that the name and DOB count as one question not two - lol, the mind boggles at such insanity. Anyways I quickly found a replacement broker locally (with a very good feedback) via Google search and will certainly never go back to L&C ever again.

Initially, I was pleased with the service I received from L&C. However, it went downhill quickly when I needed a simple clerical amendment (change of property). Both the lender and assigned solicitor - more on them later - stayed the same, but L&C failed to correctly update the address leading to incorrect mortgage offers on the wrong address. This caused delays in completion.

The solicitor recommended to me by L&C (Convey Law) ended up billing almost twice the original quote provided by L&C. I am bitterly disappointed and believe L&C do not have your best interests at heart, nor do the solicitors they advise you to use.

Would I use L&C again? No. It's as simple as that. I received minimal compensation for the troubles which I accepted under duress as I simply wanted the process to be over.

I'm giving two stars rather than one as the initial experience with L&C, and their website, was positive.

We had dealt with someone called Alice and have never been so annoyed and angry at someone questioning us! First of all it seemed like she didn’t even want to be on the other end of the phone with her attitude. The first initial conversation is what drove my husband and I not even want to bother with this whole company!

So a few times during the conversation she had the absolute CHEEK to ask us WHY we spend so little on groceries/activities as a couple together every month when we explained it’s just the 2 of us and we meal prep everything , WHY my parents help us out in terms of them cooking dinners for us out of love - was this because of our affordability and why we aren’t putting ALL our savings into the property and saving a few grand on the side? What was it to her exactly? When we told her it was just personal preference she continued to ask yeah but why? I need a reason?
She was asking us such unwarranted questions that she had no business in asking whatsoever. And then questioning why we did what we did. She also said well why are you going for a fixed term rate and not a variable? It’s like everything was a problem for her?
Then she proceeded to ring us on multiple numbers even a personal phone number (07 number) to get into contact with us again as if we didn’t already have enough of her rudeness.

AVOID this company and people like her who deal with your finances! I’ve never hated a humans attitude over the phone so much! Disgusting and rudest member to have on the team truly

They are only interested in simple cases. If there is a slight complication their brains explode and they can't deal with it. They actually said they couldn't even help me but the feeling I got was that they couldn't be bothered due to some slight complications. This is because the reasons they gave lacked common sense. I went to a local broker and I had an offer in two weeks with a very good rate. L&C are only interested in quick and easy cases. Avoid at all costs and go to a local specialist who actually knows what they're doing.

Contacted them a week ago. Was offered a mortgage in principle then was handed off to a handler. I heard nothing for nearly a week. The “portal” is awful. Looks like something from the 80’s, you can’t even load documents from your phone as everything must be in pdf format. I tried to send the mortgage advisor our documents but was ignored. When I finally did get any communication it was via their awful portal with mark D. Telling us that we must communicate via their awful portal”chat” instead of email and that we should “ensure all information is in one message”. We won’t be moving ahead with this company. Awful service.
