Very difficult walk but a breeze was present for us, which cooled us down. Without a doubt,worth the effort. There is a place to stop half way. Easier on the way down! There are different routes you can take once up the top but we went up the first craggy rock face you see and then walked back down the way we came. You have to be a confident walker (using a map) to go any other way except back down Jacob's ladder).
We walked from the train station along the railway and through fields. This is an easier walk to do on the way back as no hills. Unfortunately we took a right turn through the farm signposted 'Pennine way'...it was so hard as walking up hill after the long walk up Jacob's ladder. It nearly finished us off!

We did a 17 mile hike today starting @ the ladder then on to Kinder Scout, Kinder low, Fairbrook Naise before dropping back in to Edale. Mile 7-12 was pretty barron, but before and after offered lovely views.

Great hiking area in heart of the Peak District. Can get busy though especially holidays and summer weekend. On 24th April, 1932, an estimated 400 strong group of ramblers defied the law to walk over these hills and moorland to the plateau of Kinder Scout, Derbyshire, in what would ultimately become the Peak District National Park.

The arrest of six young men – and subsequent imprisonment of five – unleashed a wave of sympathy for the ramblers and fuelled the ‘right to roam’-movement.

Steep but fabulous climb.
We walked from the start of the Pennine Way in Edale, up to Kinder Scout and back again.
Weather was kind for the most part, however, slope was uneven and slippery in places, even without it having rained, so I would say that you need a moderate level of fitness and decent footwear to attempt it. We're not all fell runners after all.
The scenery was stunning, so well worth the trek.

I made it to Jacob's ladder today. There is nothing we can not achieve if we put our minds to it. Thanks for the support of my hiking teammates' "footsteps of the North." The view up was amazing ? ? better experienced than told. The pub where we eat, the food was yummy, fresh homemade food. The train station was close to the pubs and car park.
You can travel from Stockport, Manchester, or Sheffield and back again to view these beautiful hills and enviros.

In its simplicity an absolutely amazing walk. Can go with kids as it is a reasonably easy walk. If you are there go also to Kinder Scout.

Worth a hike from Edale Car park. It takes about 1 and a half hours to get to the top of Jacobs Ladder. It's very steep in places beyond a point its hardly a ladder, Hiking sticks are recommended and good footwear. Avoid rainy weather as it gets slippery. The nearest toilet is Edale Car park. Best time to visit is early morning 8-9 am as the trail gets busy by Mid day.
