Unbelievable backwater just off the main highway. Apart from the parked cars you wouldn't know what century you were in. Totally picturesque. Great Cafe (Frith & Little) just off the green, with some wonderful treats, homemade bread and cakes, everything was top quality and mostly healthy stuff. Their attention to detail is to be admired.

Very nice village green, it is either the beginning of your walk over the Seven Sisters/ Birling Gap, or the end, depending on your route.
On a warm sunny day, it is glorious, look out for Sherlock Holmes retirement cottage , buy a pint at the Tiger Inn, or tea and cake at the small cafe.

Cole v Davies-Gilbert [2007] EWCA Civ 396

[1] The basic facts of this case are simplicity itself. Unfortunately, they have led to some lengthy, compli-cated and expensive litigation. Nearly six years ago, on 9 April 2001, Mrs Cole was planning to go with her husband, Dr Cole, and Mrs Sommer-Erichson, a friend who was visiting from Norway, to have a meal at the Tiger Inn at East Dean in Sussex. The Coles lived in Eastbourne so they went by car, parking at the oppo-site side of the village green to the Tiger Inn. They then set off to walk across the green. Mrs Cole and Mrs Sommer-Erichson were together chatting. Dr Cole was 20 yards or so behind.

[2] It was a typical scene in an attractive English village on a spring evening, but what happened next had a devastating effect on the Cole family in general and Mrs Cole in particular.

[3] As Mrs Cole and her friend approached the War Memorial Mrs Cole caught her foot in a hole of which she was unaware, fell over and broke her leg. Sadly, she had a very severe spiral fracture of the tibia. The effects of the accident remain with her even today.

To be honest. I only go to visit my baby grandchildrens grave in the church. But I would recommend the sheep centre just along the road. Especially for children during planning season.

Quiet village green. Part of it is taken up with the picnic benches for the Tiger Inn Pub. Free parking around the corner.
