University of Macedonia - Multimedia, Security & Networking Laboratory In its sixth decade of operation, the University of Macedonia (UoM), the continuity of the historical Graduate School of Industrial Studies of Thessaloniki, is a modern state Higher Education institution, renowned for the ambience of quality, freedom, democracy, meritocracy and individual development it provides to all its members: students, Academic and Research Staff and university employees.
The Multimedia, Security & Networking Laboratory (MSN lab) was officially founded in 2016 in the Department of Applied Informatics of the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece. MSN lab aims in advancing research and development (R&D) of state-of-the-art technologies and solutions in the fields of information security (http://infosec.uom.gr), computer networking and multimedia systems. More specifically, R&D work in MSN lab includes the areas of access control; security systems engineering; cyber-security; privacy; economic and moral issues; digital forensics; protocol, algorithm, and service design and deployment; computer network efficiency, design and management; network applications; content distribution networks; network virtualization; movement detection and modelling; knowledge extraction and learning management; graphics and virtual environments; voice recognition systems; collaborative systems with emphasis on education and culture; sensorimotor systems etc. Although MSN lab has been officially founded recently, its overall presence has been notable. Apart from teaching and instruction, its members have produced remarkable research work, with hundreds of research papers.
