Aggregated data & Insights stemming from the user stories
The user stories have been collected through questionnaires filled by staff members of the participating partners. The collected user stories were elaborated and their data processed to reveal insights that refer to the characteristics of FORTIKA end users, their needs and the expected added value from the use cases.
The entire FORTIKA consortium participated in this process.
The processing and analytics of the collected material implemented by consortium members OBRELA Security Industries, XLAB d.o.o., and Fraunhofer FOKUS.
A detailed description of the processing and the interpretation of the findings is provided in FORTIKA Deliverable D6.3: “Pilot plans including evaluation framework and training material for IT support personnel and IS managers.v1” (responsible partner: OBRELA).
The following figures present a selection of the results, taken from deliverable D6.3.
User demographics. Profiles of users that submitted user stories
The features of end users that provided user stories are depicted in Figure 1. Almost 50% of the end users declared that they are advanced IT users. Regarding the Years of Experience, the range that prevails for the total number of responders is between 3 and 15 years of experience.
Threats and countermeasures
Malware and Phishing are the top threats identified by the responders. Regarding the Countermeasures, Firewalls appear at the top places of user replies. Further, measures of an organizational rather than technical nature, such as Training, Password Policy and Security Policy also appear in high places.
Existing mitigation mechanisms and requested ones as conceived by end-users
As far as the existing Mitigation Mechanisms are concerned, IDS (Intrusion Detection System), Antimalware, Training and Firewalls are the most appearing alternatives. The Mitigation Mechanisms more requested by the responders are IDS, SIEM (System Information and Event Management) and Notification & Alert services.
