We had an absolutely lovely lunch here! Loads of parking and was inside really nice with great atmosphere. It seems a hidden gem- would be great to take friends to fir a catch up!
We ordered the pie of the day which was chicken and leek, and it was delicious!! Lots of space inside and outside! Staff were really friendly.
Would heartily recommend!

Met a friend here for lunch. It was really quiet we were seated quickly and our drink order was taken. We ordered our meal and waited a while only to be told 1 of the starters was not available. Not a problem I'll have soup instead. No soup. Oh well I'll have something else. We waited quite some time before our starters arrived. When our plates were cleared we were asked if we wanted anything else, bit worrying as we had ordered a main with our starter. A couple sitting close to us had ordered not long after us and we're still waiting. After chasing their lunch they were told what they had ordered was not available. Seriously if that was me I would not be happy. They changed their order and their food arrived quite soon after. Ours when it arrived was ok at best. Mine tasted like it had been hanging around for a while. We were not offered dessert, probably for the best. And had to find somebody to arrange to pay for our meal. Would I go back probably not.

Xmas party of our department. Enjoyed to the fullest. Best service, pleasant atmosphere and food was also good. Initially the starters were served cold especially baked camembert. On request it was served again properly. Rest all was up to the mark. Service was good. Extra veggies were served with the main course and free Prosecco for everyone as promised during booking. Happy to go back again. Gluten free food was served as ordered.

Limited menu due to no stock.

Due to this only one gluten free option for one of our party which was ham, egg, chips she doesn't eat eggs but had no other choice, we were only told of this issue shortly before we arrived for the night, surely they knew about this issue earlier in the day.

This was very bad service on there part.

Our waitress did the best she could with the situation, left us a list of items we couldn't have, but it would of been better to tell us what was available, as there wasn't alot.

Disappointed.
Have been many times, tonight (23.08.2024) was terrible.
Booked table by phone for a friend's birthday get together. Was not told that new owners take over on 28th August and they are running food stock down! Found out by reading a note on the bar on arrival.....
Stood at the restaurant bar for nearly 10 minutes waiting to see a staff member to be seated!
Not much left on the menu and we arrived at 6pm.
Ordered hot drinks at 7.15pm - at 7.40pm we were finally told they were out of milk!

Won't be back for a very long time, such a shame as we really liked this place

One of the worst meals I've had in a long time. I don't often write bad reviews and it's taken me a while to write this!
Me, my friend and son, decided to get a late lunch/dinner here, as the end of August. It took quite some time for the food to come out. I ordered the standard size hunters chicken, she ordered the small plate... they couldn't really tell us when they brought out the plate if it was the small or the large, then they brought out the small and apart from, slightly more mash and a few extra peas, it was the same meal, you can see her plate in the background, completely full, while mine is spread out. So not only did I pay an extra £5, the food wasn't great, the chicken was so dry, I needed mayo, to help it down. We did tell the staff and she said the chef was new and would let them know (wasn't even apologetic about it) ... erm, hopefully things improve, as is a nice pub, with a nice veranda area and garden area. Food use to be decent and they use to offer wonderful cakes.
Also as it was the kids holidays, kids were meant to eat free but cause it was a certain day of the week, they put that deal through instead and I ended up paying more. I questioned it and got told, they gave me the best deal but once I was away, I looked at the receipt and they hadn't, it had cost more. I couldn't be bothered with the agg of arguing over a couple of pound.
The whole thing was not a positive experience and neither of us are on a hurry to return.

Me my partner and daughter went for breakfast at the castle this morning. Really wish we hadn’t, I had scrabbled eggs on toast, it was cold and definitely been microwaved in some sort of mold as it was all stuck together like a brick. Extremely rubbery and tasteless, worse scrabbled eggs I’ve ever had. The lady took it of the bill but somehow the bill still came to £27. We had two orange juices, big breakfast and an extra sausage and hash brown. I did query the price and looked at the receipt and the scrabbled eggs wasn’t on there. I’ve added it up and definitely still been charged which is disgraceful.

Sunday lunch was completely tasteless. Prawn & Cray fish cocktail beforehand left a bit to be desired as well. Had to ask for more sauce and for cutlery and she bought me a dessert spoon.....really?!
