Recently I was in a rut and turned to Sam to help me with my nutrition and lifestyle. Over 6 months he's helped me understand food and my motivations around food and eating. I continue to be in a really positive place and my lifestyle has completely changed. I feel so much better emotionally and physically. Emotionally, I'm not obsessing over food, I'm enjoying what I eat and I feel better about myself. Physically my clothes fit better and my gut health has improved. I have also gradually lost weight too and I'm more where I want to be but that's a result of everything else. I'm still striving to get more exercise in but that will come as life changes. Sam's guidance has really changed my outlook and my life. It's not a quick fix it's habit changes that will hopefully stick and remain. Thank you. I highly recommend Sam.

Sam has been invaluable when it comes to my nutrition and general well being… I think Sam would agree that i came to him with unrealistic expectations about what my body should be and how to get there!! Since having children i have struggled with PCOS and the hormone havoc that comes with it. Sam has helped me give my body what it needs in order to have regular cycles and as result came weight loss, better sleep habits and increased energy levels. He has highlighted the importance of fibre in my diet when i have been fixated on carbs and protein but most importantly Sam has helped me realise that my body has done amazing things (grown 2 healthy babies) and should be given the respect it deserves and not the harsh criticism it was getting. Thank you Sam!!

Sam’s approach and focus on the ability to work towards a “normal” relationship with food has been the best way for me to finally start a sustainable journey towards a slimmer life. His focus on protein loading and a high fiber intake has enabled me to strike out on my own, but with the comfort of knowing that he’s always available for advise should I need some future guidance - can’t recommend enough.

So before I started with Sam, I was a severe binge eater. I would eat Nutella with a spoon until I felt sick, I had chocolate with every meal and I drank red bull with my breakfast. It was awful.

Physically, I was obviously struggling. My hair was falling out, I had fatigue, low self esteem due to being unhappy with my body and I needed help.

In the past, I’d always gone to people who focused on my exercise and calorie deficits without really giving me any education in it.

When I first joined Sam, we spent a lot of time looking into my habits and trying to work out why my behaviour was this way.

For the first time in my life, I had met someone who helped me to understand macros. Even the fact that I was only eating 30g protein a day when I should have been eating 100g was new to me. I had no idea of the impact of this before. Sam’s knowledge of PCOS and the menstrual cycle was also amazing in helping me to understand my own body. We also focused on mindful eating, so that I started to listen to my body about my own hunger and needs. My binge eating reduced. I could finally leave food on my plate if I was full. I was no longer eating a whole packet of biscuits in one go.

Sam provided me with a world of new knowledge, a judgement-free environment, emotional support and motivation. I no later hate my body, but I see it as a vessel that keeps me alive and that I have to fuel correctly.

I came to Sam for help as I’ve always struggled with my weight due to binge eating. I’d followed him on Instagram for some time and finally took the plunge.
To be honest I was thinking this is going to be another waste of money and time just like all the ‘diets’ I’d previously been on.

Prior to starting this I was stuck in a rut as a binge eater, starting a diet on a Monday, falling off the wagon by Wednesday and telling myself I’d start again on Monday. I had no control or awareness of what or how much I was putting in my body. This always made me feel so guilty, eating too much, eating ‘bad foods’ or just not being able to stick to diet rules and restrictions. I always felt like I’d failed when diets didn’t work as I’d just gain more weight. I’d feel awful after ‘giving in’ by having a bar of chocolate in the afternoon, which meant that whole day was ruined and led to a pathway of self destruction just eating everything in sight until I went to bed. Bingeing like this was a daily occurrence for me.

The process with Sam was completely different than anything I’d done before. There was no cutting out carbs, replacing meals with shakes or restricting what I could eat. It started by educating me and trying to get my brain away from thinking the only way to achieve my goals was to cut out certain foods or heavily restrict myself, as that is what I’ve always been told. It was actually a surreal experience someone telling me to go and eat bread or chocolate and for me to sit and enjoy it, and not to be thinking ‘bread isn’t food for me’ or ‘that’s too many carbs’ etc. It did take a few weeks for me to get used to that but now I really look forward to what I eat and enjoy every last bite.

My thoughts and behaviours have completely changed too. I no longer feel shame or guilt for eating what I want to eat. I am in control of my meals and there is minimal bingeing. It used to be daily but now it’s less than a monthly occurrence and I feel even that is reducing. I have also noticed that any occasional bingeing I do now has drastically reduced to what it used to be. After it now I always feel sick, uncomfortable with headaches etc. because my body is just not used to that anymore. I can’t believe I used to feel so crap every single day. My body doesn’t feel the need for me to do that all the time as I’m satisfied from my normal meals and snacks which I am fully in control of.

I’m so much happier since starting. I’m more confident and in control than ever and I’m loving seeing the little changes in my body as I continue on my journey to be happier and healthier. It’s no longer about the weight for me either, previously I would be obsessed with the scales and weigh everyday, knowing I’d be disheartened if I’d gain a pound. This would lead to a bad day of shame and guilt, but now, I don’t really care what the scales say, I just want to be the best version of me.

He’s helped to change my relationship with exercise, after completing his Learn to lift course and some 1:1 sessions, I finally felt comfortable enough to go in a gym. I have known Sam personally for a number of years but have only recently started to use his professional services. Sam has helped me to put some structure into my food and exercise in a way that puts me in control. Since working with Sam to track my food in a non obsessive way I am definitely eating less but not in a way that means I have to eat less of what I enjoy. I have never enjoyed going to the gym and lockdown put a stop to this changing but by using the online service with Sam I have still been able to exercise regularly at home using the structure Sam has put in place. I really enjoy speaking to Sam on a weekly basis, it is always insightful and encouraging. I look forward to continuing on my journey with him and continuing to see the positive change I have started to make thanks to Sam!
