Medieval tower at the summit of a hill, enjoying superb views. On a clear day, it feels like most of the Isle of Wight is visible from this spot.
The tower is instantly recognisable thanks to its pointed top and stout buttresses (these were added later to stabilise the structure, as it was originally designed as a part of a church, not a free standing tower).
There's an information board by the tower explaining more about its history. The nearest parking is at Blackgang Old Viewpoint, around a 5-10 minute walk away at the foot of the hill. There are no other facilities but the site is free to visit and open every day, all year round.

I had to walk up an incline about half a mile through 2 cattle fields to reach St Catherine's Oratory.
You can see for miles at this point.
Interesting place to see while visiting isle of Wight.

Nice little walk on top of the hill and a beautiful view from there. Apart from that, not much.
There is nothing to visit. It's just a tower. A beautiful one.

Big walk up through field of cows. Can only give 3 stars which is a bit unfair as mainly due to weather the day we went making it miserable and meaning no view from top!
