It was my mum's moving in day yesterday and the entire experience could not have been any better for her or me. The ethos of inclusively, welcoming and encouragement was evident throughout. Every member of staff was patient, kind and understanding. Many residents made it their business to welcome mum, introduce themselves and invite her to join in. Her room is glorious, I echo all the reviews about the exceptional quality of the environment. The communication throughout the handover phase fills me with confidence too. Everything was at mum's pace and the balance between checking in on us and giving us space at this really difficult time was spot on. I am looking forward to seeing how my mum's physical health improves and how additional socialisation benefits her quality of life. Thank you for taking time to check in on me and ask how I was, fully recognising the emotional impact that this decision was likely to be having on me, whilst putting on the brave face for my precious mum.

My mother in law has been at Rivendell for over 18 months now and it continues to have been the best decision we made. The facilities and care are excellent with many activities available for all to enjoy with outdoor trips to provide variety. As visitors we are always made welcome and kept informed and involved in the changing and sometimes challenging needs of someone with Alzheimer’s. This was a relatively new home when she first arrived and it has been good to see the time spent developing the garden which I know many of the residents enjoy and participate in. The staff are approachable and always willing to listen and advise. Well done all at Rivendell View

A worker at Rivendell, had a rabbit named Bluey and did not know how to take care of her, so gave her to the care home, who also did not know how to take care of her. A kind worker took her home to give her some care, but could no longer care for her, so Gedling Village care home offered her a forever home and renamed her Blossom, as she was just lovely and the most affectionate rabbit ever. Unfortunately, when Blossom had her healthcare check at Vets4pets in Netherfield , she had been neglected so much that her teeth had started to grow into the bones of her jaw. Blossom also had numerous abscesses in the bone of her jaw, which meant the vet advised that due to years of neglect, Blossom was put down on Tuesday of this week. Blossom brought so much joy to the residents of both homes, just sad her care was not so good! Blossom has now been cremated and a plaque is going to be erected in the garden of Gedling Village care home.
