My wife and I had a very pleasant and comfortable stay at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was in the middle of refurbishment but we weren't disturbed at all by the ongoing work. We paid extra for the breakfast which was excellent and well worth it. In fact the food was very good all round and very reasonable. The room was clean and comfortable and the bed was just right. We both slept very well. Access to the attached fitness centre comes as complimentary for hotel guests and my wife and I took advantage of the pool, sauna and steam room most evenings. The hotel is a little out of the way and Marks Tey has only a few local amenities including a great American style diner, However, the hotel will better suit drivers, even though public transport links are good enough to get into Colchester and back. Access to many of the local spots are better driven. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would almost certainly return

Although there the hotel is in the middle of a refurbishment, we managed to have an enjoyable stay. I think, however, if I'd known when I booked in January that the restaurant wasn't going to be ready, I would have chosen a different hotel. I booked a DBB package and our dinner was in the bar area. It was not the setting I was expecting.
I couldn't fault the welcome and friendliness of the staff.
The breakfast had a good variety and was nicely presented in the orangery.
Our executive double room was massive and tastefully decorated.
I can see it being a lovely hotel was the refurbishment is finished.

Marks Tey is a place to be although its under some renovations but once inside you will love it. The rooms are very big giving you much space to go about I personally loved them. They have big screen TVs and well decorated bathrooms which are very big as well. The dining area is big and the service is wonderful with friendly staff who are willing to listen to your needs. Would love to go back there again.

We stopped here to charge the car, very quiet plenty of free chargers. The hotel was closed for maintenance so there was no toilets or food available.

Me and my partner went here for a quiet getaway. Part of the hotel was under refurbishment however the room was nice, relaxing and had a better modern look to it. Breakfast in the morning wasn't that great. First morning we had to order it to which it was served fairly hot however the second morning it was help yourself and all the food was cold. Me and my partner couldn't eat the second breakfast so we had to go somewhere else. The location is great, surrounded by loads of different restaurants, not too far from town and only an 8 minute drive from Colchester zoo. I would recommend this hotel but not the breakfast.

The management and staff have a helpful friendly attitude and can't do enough to help you.

The hotel is being refurbished throughout from rooms too services (bar etc), but it's not detrimental as the service and rooms are great. Well equipped bathroom and bedroom with a great modern but stylish design, with the heating / AC controls via an app. The bar has a good selection and I really love the options and quality of the very reasonably priced food. There's also a gym and pool here at the rear of the hotel.

If the work completed so far is anything to go by the end result will definitely make a visit worth the money.
