I have stayed twice in the space of a month as work is bringing me to the East Midlands. Rooms are home from home, spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Parking right outside is helpful. Food is exceptional. The room rate includes a fabulous breakfast which boasts lots of choice. Both visits I’ve had dinner in the Gastro Pub which is superb. Service is super friendly, nothing is too much trouble and the welcome is warm. Location is great for anywhere in the East Midlands. I don’t love working away but I now look forward to my business trips to the Midlands so I can stay here.

Visited Long Watton for New Years Eve and managed to get a last minute booking for The Royal Oaks set menu. It was an absolutely incredible meal - everything cooked to perfection and great bar selection.
Lovely friendly staff too.

The Royal Oak has a lovely pub located within a beautiful village. Reservations are recommended. The menu has lots of options for everyone, and a great selection of gluten free choices. The service is great and the staff are very friendly and eager to help if needed. Sunday lunch here is a great stop!

I've seen lots of fantastic reviews of the Royal Oak and I wouldn't disagree about most of the points, it is indeed a lovely, clean well kept establishment.
The one thing that I was not expecting was the small size of food portions. Now I do appreciate that 'fine dining' is not measured by volume however I do feel that it is a consideration.
I ordered the fish of the day which came on a bed of mash and accompanied by seared courgette. It was very nice but the mash would have filled a dessert spoon and there was one slice of courgette (halved). Fair play it was very nice and I have no complaint but I think it's fair to have a balanced perspective when reading reviews.

Three of us went to celebrate a special occasion and it was a lovely surprise to find such a great pub, and ended up staying for two-and-a-half hours which is unusual for lunch. We do like a fancy restaurant and a good cosy pub, and this was both!
Parts that stood out were the lighting and cleanliness, wine, sessions ale, gravy, venison, chips, and ice cream. I enjoyed every part of my meal (pie of the day) including the very tasty veg.
The timing was also perfect; neither rushed nor slow. After our drinks order was taken we spent longer than usual looking at the menu because everything sounded fantastic, and we were chatting, but we were left to it until we were ready.
At the end of a fab three courses we all started yawning at the same time ready for a pleasant afternoon food coma haha.
We will be back very often, thank you so much.
