The hostel has everything you need for cheap stay, with no frills. We were training for the Spine Race, and it had everything you needed. The rooms are clean, and the hostel is located a few minutes' drive from the Spine Race start point.

What was really good was the food. The menu has got a lot to choose from considering you're at a hostel, not a restaurant, and the prices are reasonable.

The breakfast, though, is 100% worth it. You get loads for what you pay for, and it definitely fills you up.

A beautiful building located in a beautiful part of the country, great food and cheap rooms. Can't go wrong.

Perfect location, staff and facilities. This YHA has everything you need for a weekend in the Peak District. Would highly recommend bringing a car because public transport/taxis aren’t accessible here. The staff (especially Ciaran and Sol) were incredible, super accommodating and always happy to help us with any extra requests.

Definitely worth a trip!

This YHA is just lovely. It’s hidden up behind the farm. A long winding road takes to it. Rooms are spotless as are the facilities. The staff are absolutely fantastic, friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Food is top notch. Portions are great and food is cooked fresh to order in their restaurant. If we are in the peaks for a few days this is our go to place to stop. It’s close to everything we want to explore and far enough away from people to be alone if you want that to. Lounge is warm friendly and has a great view.

The setting was nice, the staff were lovely. But Oh, My God, the BEDS were SO UNCOMFORTABLE!!

Our first experience of a youth hostel - our family usually does a Premier Inn family room, so we know what we're expecting and we know we can sleep...

The hostel offered advantages over Premier Inn - a beautiful location, communal rooms and games room our group could meet and play... But when you have to take a 3hr nap the following afternoon rather than go for a walk because you slept so poorly, it impacts on the experience.

A couple of us adults found that doubling up two mattresses plus a duvet under us helped significantly with stopping joints aching, but still wasn't great.

If we did YHA again, I'd probably bring an inflatable camping mattress with me just in case.

At its core I thought the hostel was good. Service from the staff was delightful & the food as ever - was on par with other YHA Hostels I have stayed at

However, alongside there not being any hot water, (surprising for a Monday afternoon with few people staying) the men’s facilities are in dire need of funding for a refresh.

Other than that, a great stay, great people and the staff were amazing as ever.

The activities are great, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Niel was a fantastic guy, helping and leading our group for the days we were there. Not the best views outsude the hostel, as it is in a sort of enclosed space. The food isn't too bad at all for a youth hostel. The mini, warm pain au chocolates for breakfast, and curry for dinner were good. The staff behind the counter of the main building shop were honest and friendly. All great! ..However, it's not a great place to sleep - if you're in the Edges building, like I was (the main building is a bit nicer, with ensuites). There is one tiny shared toilet upstairs, between about 7 rooms - or the ones downstairs which are annoying because one must walk... downstairs ?.

This accommodation is in a great location for easy access to hiking trails and other outdoor activities. Staff were very helpful and friendly, they couldn’t do enough for you. Rooms and showers were clean. When we went, it was a rather hot day, and I couldn’t get much cold water from the showers and the rooms were quite warm. However, our stay was enjoyable and left such a good impression on me that I wrote a review!

I've stayed here several times, and enjoyed it each time. The staff, especially Alastair but all of them really, are very friendly and welcoming. The food was fine. I would happily recommend this hostel, but be aware that:|- it is a fair distance from the station and centre of Edale, if you are walking|- it is not a normal hostel, it is an "Activity Centre;" so the chances of sharing with a large party of schoolkids is that much greater, and the whole hostel is booked out regularly so you might struggle with certain dates.|- my 2-bed room was rather like a cell, with no window, just a skylight.|- wifi is patchy, none in my room. That at least is a problem the YHA could solve, one would think.
