Great place to visit from the Severn Valley Railway. Engine House is interesting and a good place to eat and view trains passing. The station itself is very picturesque and well preserved.

This station is a picture postcard place, with hanging baskets and
lots of other flowers all around the platform. The main attraction
here is The Engine House, that was built with the help of lottery funding a few years ago. It is
one of the best train display buildings on any preserved railway in the country. It has lots
of things for the children to do, and interact with. The adults will
be amazed at the engines they have here. There is also large cafeteria upstairs and a balcony
to view all the passing trains, and they do hot food as well as sandwiches and drinks. The whole experience is a great way
to spend an afternoon.

I really loved this place we were lucky to see both a steam and diesel engines. There was people in dressed in period costume and the setting just transports you back in time. My thanks to all the enthusiasts who keep this place looking so fantastic. The steam train was a real treat. Thank god that people are so willing to spend their time and energy on saving such important peices of history.

Highley Station is an intermediate stop along the S.V.R.'s heritage line and is worth a stop-over. For those starting their journeys here, reasonably-priced parking is nearby and offers shade under the trees for cars on hot days. A short walk down a path through delightful woodland brings one to the railway. Here is the railway's locomotive and rolling stock museum housed in a modern, innovative building. This is free to enter and is well stocked with mainly locomotives. Obviously climbing onto them is not allowed but getting up close is! There is a first floor viewing gallery which extends outside too for views over the running line, the station and the beautiful Severn and its valley. The station is also very pretty, well kept and authentic. It perfectly encapsulates the atmosphere of a country station in days past.

A wonderful station. The Engine House is a must. Static locomotives and shop. Up stairs is a well run cafe, plus a grand viewing area as trains depart and arrive at Highly. Plenty of spots to take photos. In fact you spend all day there.

This is an active stop on the superb heritage Severn Valley Railway; from here you can alight from the train and visit the Engine House Museum, or walk down to the river, which is just two minutes walk. A truly glorious place to go.
