Can't understand how this place isn't far busier! An amazing day out with a 5 and 9 year old. So many activities, including water play. All making scientific concepts easier to understand, accessible and fun. Fun for big kids like me and smaller ones too 🙂 The kids enjoyed seeing the Observatory dome rotate and roof open too.

We really were not sure about visiting with our 9yo as we thought that it looked a little small and would not really be worth the price of admission. WE WERE WRONG. We arrived just after lunch and were practically thrown out as we needed more time!!

The place is a gem of little experiments and science bits to keep everyone entertained for hours on end. We will definitely re-visit.

The staff were kind and thoughtful, and the grounds are well kept. The exhibits themselves are old, but they still are very much relevant and fun. My son LOVED the vacuum chair lift!

People, go and enjoy this treasure before it's too late. A wonderful place to be a kid, whether an actual kid or an adult wanting to bring out your inner child.

The recent stargazing evenings are the definition of wholesomeness - ditch your phone, social media time vacuum, and go see something real and bigger than all of us.

A thought provoking place where we spent almost 5 hrs! I thoroughly recommend attending the free talk, which brings all the history of this place together and the person who did the talk (12pm on Sat 15th June) was just brilliant, very knowledgeable and humorous.

A great science playground too, where children can spend hours. Overall place feels run down sadly, I guess the place needs more funding and more people need to come here.

Great place for little ones and grown-ups too. Lots of hands on stuff. If you want to learn about the world, space or the sciences
Even to see a very large telescope looking in to space.
There was a coach load of school children there when we arrived enjoying the apparatus, they soon had to go and all was quite. We the place to ourselves.
Nice coffee in the cafe, and the little one had a tub of ice cream. She also enjoyed the gift shop.

Attended as part of a school trip. Nice place for kids to stretch their legs. Some interactive hands on science bits for squeezing in a bit of learning. They seem to have stargazing events on during the summer, but check their website. Exit through the gift shop of course but it's pretty small so not that much if an issue.

My husband and I took our 4 year old and my in-laws on Sunday afternoon. We totally underestimated how long we'd need as my son was fascinated with the exhibits and we didn't get round them all as we also wanted to fit in a dome tour.

What was striking about the interactive exhibits is that they were ideal for parents / grandparents to enjoy with young children (probably 3yrs+) or for older children to try themselves so it was a really nice way to spend time together.

The dome tour was fascinating and (spoiler alert) we were treated to a demonstration of the roof opening and rotating. The tour was informative for young and old alike.

There's a small, reasonably priced cafe which was a welcome chance to rest with a cuppa and cake.

Went with two of my kids, aged 10 and 13, they were entertained for 3 or 4 hours on a lovely hot summers day - some great interactive experiments showcasing some really important science principles, and they were learning through play, without necessarily realising that they were learning.

Food options were a little pricey and rather limited, and if you have been to other similar places then there won't be much that's new - however, even if you've been to other similar things before, if the kids haven't been for over 18 months, they'll gain loads form it.

A very good day (or possibly half-day) out 🙂
